Happy Monday y’all!
I exclaim that phrase, because it let’s me look at Mondays in a positive light instead of the reality of my shitty 9-5 (or 730-430) grind.
I revisited one of my best friends this past weekend and I’m feeling extra inspired to work myself away from corporate servitude. She is an actor, and kicks ass working for herself. Obviously, some times can be very tough. But I know from my formal finance education that bigger risks create an opportunity for bigger rewards. There is literally science behind it.
What I’m getting at is my pursuit of happiness. For me, it’s simple. I have spent years trying to identify what I want. I imagine my desires are not far off from the incredibly basic standards of living.
- time for self-care
- time to cook meals for my family
- time to love my family
- time to stay in touch with loved ones
- energy to do it all
There is a sad trend. All I want is time (and some energy). As one of the most limited resources in this universe, time is sadly undervalued in so many “high functioning” societies. I don’t get it.
The biggest offender against our free time is the commonplace 9-5. With so many advances in technology, worker productivity keeps growing. Since our pay isn’t in line with that reality, then something’s gotta give. I have maybe 5-8 hours of work to do each week. Out of the 40+ hours that I’m obligated to be at work (in a lousy office, with inflexible remote work policies), I have only 5 to 8 hours of work to complete. ???????
I’m writing this for my self affirmation. I am typing my goals down as a step needed to achieve them! There are still several steps to go, but I’m paving my way to freedom and happiness and TIME!
- write it down
- research avenues of opportunity
- work on my terms
- ????????
- Profit!
Eventually, I want to earn full-time income online. I’d love to be a full-time blogger, but I also need to diversify my income. I have researched so many alternatives, but the goal is on the table. I’ll keep you all posted as things really ramp up.
My mental timeline has me aiming to earn at least 50% of my current salary from Work-at-Home avenues by December. Let’s see how it goes! Any suggestions?
