I’m back for another One Room Challenge to give my big girl an upgraded and intentionally curated space.
There’s been some hemming and hawing on my part about *committing* like this, but today is the deadline to submit our moods and here I am!
The challenge acts more like an accountability project for me. And although I’m always working on a dozen different things, it’s so nice to have a clear vision for a space from start to finish. This helps me prioritize the planning portion of a project which is not always natural for me.
When it comes to the fun stuff, I just do it and look forward to redoing it when it sucks.
But since this is for my baby big girl, she has input and ideas which kinda makes her a client lol and brings this to a wholeeeeee new level of potential failure 😬
Big girl rainbow room ideas and mood board

Every time I ask her what color she wants to paint her walls, her response is immediately rainbow 🌈
Needless to say, I will not be painting her room rainbow.
I’m no Banyan Bridges, AND we are planning to either sell or rent this place out in the near future and I don’t want to do anything too elaborate that’ll be almost immediately undone.
But I bought a pretty rainbow typography print and we agreed to work off of that and make the space colorful with white walls.
The scope of work
I am doing my best to not overdo anything (like I did with my closet), but I have to do something a little out of my current skill set. Most of the tasks are simple like painting or shopping, but here’s what we have to get done.
- Paint the walls
- Install window trim x2
- Change the light fixture
- Create a shelving situation
- Build cane closet doors (!!!)
- Maybe a canopy 🤩
Here’s a messy/realistic snapshot of the current state:
