Gift giving is a fun and loving way to show someone you care. But we all know a pregnant woman’s priorities are shifting. She needs fewer coffee mugs (for now) and more opportunities for self-care. With a new full focus on that baby brewing, pregnancy is the perfect time to start incorporating simple self-care opportunities. Give her an excuse to stay pampered and avoid losing her pre-baby identity.
This self-care gift guide for pregnant women will cover your favorite mom-to-be with things she doesn’t realize she needs.
1. A MASSAGE
Mama needs to RELAX. Get that special lady an hour (or more) of straight serenity. I’m talking the best joint in town. The best [maternity] package they have. The fewest strings attached. She is under so much stress. Preparing for baby is already tough WITHOUT the added weight.
2. BODY PILLOW
The Snoogle is pretty well-known as ~*~essential~*~. But for the less-informed, it’s a ridiculous, half-kidney shaped pillow for head, knee, and belly support. But it also gives any other partners a break from hot sweaty mom. This might just be a dad gift incognito.
3. GIFT CARDS
Target, Nordstrom, VISA, doesn’t matter. Mama needs a gift card for those incidentals. She won’t always ask for it, but she will definitely use it. If you want to make sure she’s actually pregnant, get one for A Pea in the Pod or Motherhood Maternity. All the same, She has crap to get, and no time or excuse to go get it. Give her a reason.
Another amazing idea is a restaurant gift card because the hunger is real!
4. START A MEAL TRAIN
Maybe she isn’t due for another 8 months, but Starting a Meal Train will get the idea going and not forgotten. Just having the time to tell people ensures it will make sure mom and baby are fed in those blurry early days.
5. GET TO THE REGISTRY
I don’t want to shock you, but the registry is not just for a shower. Maybe it is to some people, but I don’t agree. When I realized that people create them for any occasion, I decided that anything on a registry was free game. She needs it regardless.
6. GIFT BASKET
I love a good gift basket. They are becoming more and more practical. Less fruit… (but still some fruit) and more essentials! Some of my favorite gift basket ideas for a working pregnancy are feet related, but you can’t reach the damn things.
This is a creatively specific pre-built version if you don’t have time to build some pinterest version.
7. PERSONAL FOOT SPA
There is nothing like a pedicure. But busy, pregnant, working moms and moms-to-be don’t have all the time to run to a spa, but if anything needs some R&R it’s a pregnant lady’s feet.
I always imagine those old-timey movies with a scene that ends with a soaking wet person getting wrapped up and warming their feet in a hot bucket of water. It feels goooood. These little spas are a perfect and underrated gift, especially for a pregnant lady! Even better for a woman with a husband that doesn’t do feet (me….).
8. BELLY BUTTER
Stretch marks aren’t really preventable, but it can’t hurt to try! Plus, those bellies can get itchy. Help a mom feel better inside & out.
